Welcome to ARCH 10-Design Fundamentals!
Course Overview:
This course is designed to be a fun introduction to architectural design. Through a series of exercises building on one another, students will learn to express their ideas using 3D and 2D methods. The goal of this course is to give students the opportunity to be creative while learning about architectural design.
This course has been divided into 5 parts which build on each other and will be summarized in a final project:
Module 3- Order and Proportion
As you navigate through the class you will see that there is a lot of overlap between the themes, content, and vocabulary. Each module has been similarly laid out with the intention of reinforcing course objectives and providing guidance for your project work.
- Readings/Tutorials are primarily found on this website and will be used to introduce architectural vocabulary, design principles, and visual graphics skills. Your knowledge will be assessed through module discussions, project work, and your ability to speak fluently about your designs.
- Lectures/Workshops will primarily be presented in person and will be used to summarize the ideas presented in readings and provide further connections between the content and design assignments in the course. Your knowledge will be assessed through discussions, project work, and quizzes.
- Assignments will be introduced and discussed in class, but also posted on this website for your reference. It is essential that you carefully read all of the directions in order to complete the assignment correctly. Carefully reading directions is an essential part of this course.
